What is an Online Dew Point Transmitter?

An online dew point transmitter provides continuous, fixed-point measurement of moisture content in a gas stream — installed permanently at a process connection and wired into a control or monitoring system. Unlike portable instruments used for periodic spot-checks, online transmitters deliver real-time, uninterrupted dew point data for process control, quality assurance and equipment protection.

This range covers three sensor configurations suited to different application conditions. Standard transmitters measure dew point from -60°C to +90°C, suitable for general compressed gas and process drying applications. Ultra-dry transmitters extend measurement down to -80°C, designed for extremely dry environments such as semiconductor processing and high-purity gas systems. High-temperature transmitters operate accurately up to 160°C and safely to 190°C, supporting hot gas stream applications where standard sensors cannot survive.

All transmitters in this range provide dual simultaneous output — RS485 digital communication alongside a selectable analogue output (4-20mA, 0-5V or 0-10V) — allowing direct integration with PLCs, SCADA systems and standalone displays without additional signal conversion. Compact variants add Modbus-RTU support and built-in anti-condensation heating, suited for space-constrained pipeline installations in battery production, electronics manufacturing, semiconductor fabrication and compressed air systems.

Applications

Hot gas stream moisture monitoring (up to 190°C)

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the standard, ultra-dry and high-temperature transmitter ranges?
Standard transmitters (HDPM-60) measure -60°C to +90°C dew point and suit general compressed gas applications. Ultra-dry transmitters (HDPM-80S) extend to -80°C with a rugged stainless steel long probe, designed for extremely dry process gas measurement such as semiconductor and high-purity applications. High-temperature transmitters (HDPM-50A) operate accurately up to 160°C and safely to 190°C, for hot gas stream monitoring where standard sensors would fail. Select based on your expected dew point and process gas temperature.
What output signals are available on online dew point transmitters?
All transmitters provide RS485 digital output simultaneously with a selectable analogue output — 4-20mA, 0-5V, or 0-10V, chosen at order. Compact (HDPM-CMP) variants support Modbus-RTU protocol for direct PLC integration. This dual-output design allows connection to both a digital monitoring system and a simple analogue display or control loop without additional hardware.
What is the maximum working pressure for these transmitters?
All transmitters in this range are rated for a maximum working pressure of 16 bar, suitable for most compressed gas, compressed air and process gas applications. Confirm your system's operating pressure is within this rating before installation. For higher-pressure applications, contact Hydrogenergy for alternative product options.
What is the recommended recalibration interval?
Compact (HDPM-CMP) transmitters are factory calibrated with a recommended recalibration interval of one year for sustained accuracy. Recalibration frequency may need to be shortened in harsh process conditions or extended in stable, clean gas applications. Contact Hydrogenergy for calibration service and recommended schedules for your specific installation.
Do compact transmitters include anti-condensation protection?
Yes — HDPM-CMP compact transmitters include a built-in heating element with automatic anti-condensation function, which shuts off automatically after 10 minutes. This prevents moisture condensation on the sensor during cold start-up or rapid temperature changes, protecting measurement accuracy and sensor longevity in variable process conditions.
