What is a Compact Pressure Transmitter?

A compact pressure transmitter measures gauge, absolute or negative pressure and converts it into a standardised electrical output signal for direct integration into control systems, displays or data acquisition platforms. This series uses a silicon piezoresistive sensing principle, manufactured using silicon micromachining technology — the sensitive chip is encapsulated in a 316L stainless steel shell and filled with silicone oil, which transmits pressure from the stainless steel isolation diaphragm to the sensing element with high accuracy and stability.

The pressure sensing chip converts applied pressure into a linear voltage signal, which is processed by an amplifier circuit to produce a standardised current or voltage output. With no moving parts, this solid-state design delivers high reliability and long service life, with temperature drift below 0.2% F.S within the compensated range of -10°C to 70°C, and below 0.5% F.S across the full operating temperature range.

This transmitter series is fully configurable at order — measurement range from -100kPa to 100MPa, accuracy grade of 0.5%, 0.2% or 0.1%, output signal of 4-20mA, 0-5V, 0-10V or RS485, and connection thread of M20×1.5, G1/2, flange or custom. Diaphragm material can be specified as 316L stainless steel, tantalum, Hastelloy or other corrosion-resistant materials for compatibility with the specific measured medium. Hydrogenergy supplies these transmitters configured to your application requirements across hydrogen system pressure points — from electrolyzer outlet to high-pressure storage and compression.

Frequently asked questions

What measurement range is available?
This transmitter series covers measurement ranges from -100kPa (vacuum/negative pressure) up to 100MPa, configured to your specific application at order. Specify your required range, along with pressure form (gauge, absolute or negative), when requesting a quotation.
What output signal options are available?
Output signal is configurable as 4-20mA current loop, 0-5V or 0-10V voltage output, or RS485 digital communication. Current loop output is most common for long cable runs and industrial control integration; voltage output suits shorter connections to local displays or DAQ systems; RS485 enables digital networked installations with multiple transmitters on a shared bus.
What accuracy grades are available?
Three accuracy grades are available: 0.5%, 0.2% and 0.1% of full scale. Select based on your application's precision requirements — 0.5% is suitable for general process monitoring, while 0.1% suits applications requiring tighter measurement precision such as calibration reference or critical process control.
Can this transmitter be used with corrosive media?
Yes — for corrosive media incompatible with standard 316L stainless steel, the transmitter can be configured with a flange diaphragm structure using alternative diaphragm materials such as tantalum or Hastelloy (HC). Specify your measured medium when ordering so the correct wetted materials can be selected for chemical compatibility.
Does the transmitter require calibration before use?
No — transmitters are strictly calibrated before leaving the factory and do not require user calibration. However, due to the silicone oil-filled diaphragm design, mounting orientation can introduce a small offset pressure on the sensing chip. If installation position differs significantly from the calibration orientation, a zero-point adjustment may be needed — this is a simple field procedure, not a full recalibration.
